Side plates are precision punched giving high accuracy and cylindrical form to the holes. This ensures a precise fit between the pin or bush and the sideplate and results in consistent contact between the components over the whole thickness of the plate. The beneficial effects of precision punching are the ability to withstand higher shock loads and a significantly improved fatigue life.

Pins, bushes and rollers are stringently quality controlled for optimum hardness during the heat treatment process.

The pins and bushes, with their locating shoulders to prevent rotation, are assembled to the precision punched plates and either full riveted or welded automatically.

Automatic full round riveting achieves a joint that can withstand very high side loads. This is acknowledged as the best construction method and is superior for smaller chains.

The special steels used by FB in these products are fully weldable. Using robotic technology chains are welded automatically as part of the final assembly process. With the welded construction, chains achieve a higher breaking load and give exceptional performance in the most arduous applications.
