Chain Wear Gauge

Chain failure, other than sudden breakage due to operator error, shock load or overload, is normally a gradual process during which time the chain elongates as it wears. The pins wear against the bearing area of the link plate apertures and the accumulative effect of this is a significant increase in the nominal pitch of the chain. The result is a reduction in the fatigue life and a lower ultimate breaking strength of the chain.

Measuring elongation gives an early indication of wear and potential chain failure.

The FB Professional Chain Wear Gauge has been designed to overcome the significant problems encountered when attempting to accurately measure chain for wear.

The patented design, incorporating a precise indication of percentage elongation, on an easy to read scale, covers all leaf and roller chains up to 3" pitch.

chainwear2.jpg Precision manufactured and accurately toleranced elongation is measured to within one quarter of one percent. Calibration, referenced back to National Calibration Standards can be verified on the gauge itself utilising the calibration window.

This unique, user friendly, professional chain wear gauge is supplied with a protective sleeve and full operating instructions.

Excessively worn chains are lethal - accurate measurement is vital.
